Liverpool star on Madrid’s January shortlist

Liverpool star on Madrid’s January shortlist

luis-suarez_2621192bLiverpool striker Luis Suarez is a potential January transfer target for big spending Spanish side Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mail.
The controversial Uruguayan, currently serving a 10-match suspension for biting, was subject to numerous rumours throughout the summer regarding a move away from Anfield, which in the end didn’t materialise.
As well as the Reds frontman, Madrid are also targeting Monaco forward Radamel Falcao as a possible alternative to Suarez, according to the newspaper, despite him only joining the French side earlier in the summer.
Seeds of discontent?
With both Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain having left Los Blancos for Napoli this summer, the Bernabeu club have a dearth of recognised strikers, with Cristiano Ronaldo supposedly unhappy at the prospect of playing through the middle, the newspaper claims.
Furthermore, the Portuguese international is reportedly dissatisfied with the sale of Germany attacking-midfielder Mesut Ozil to Arsenal; a player Ronaldo feels produces his best form.
Indeed he was outspoken concerning this situation, saying, as reported by the paper: “The sale of Ozil is bad news for me.
“He was the player who best knew my moves in front of goal. I’m angry about Ozil leaving.”
Looking to leave?
Meanwhile Suarez, it is claimed by the newspaper, wishes to leave Merseyside with Real as a preferred option, as he desires to play regular Champions League football and covets winning trophies, which have been thin on the ground at Liverpool in recent seasons.
Aside from rejecting offers from the Bernabeu club, the Reds have also turned down offers from fellow Premier League club Arsenal, reportedly in the region of £40m, according to the newspaper.
It remains to be seen if Suarez will reignite his Liverpool career once he returns from his ban but, with fans of the Merseyside club appearing to lose patience with the Uruguay international, his departure could be inevitable in upcoming transfer windows.
