Liverpool: Serious Knee Injury For Coates

The chances of Sebastian Coates forging a career at Liverpool have taken another knock with him set for an extended spell on the sidelines having sustained a serious knee injury playing for Uruguay last week.

It's bad enough being injured at any time, however an injury in the dying moments of a game is arguably worse? That's what happened with the defender against Japan last week.

Thought to have been "not serious" at first it was then confirmed that he tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and faces six-months or so on the sidelines after surgery, so will probably miss the remainder of this season.

Coates, like so many in recent times, just hasn't made the impact it was thought he would when signed and doesn't have a future at Anfield after two-years of struggling to make the breakthrough, this injury setback will see him fall further behind other options..
