Liverpool: Downing Fee Agreed

Talk of a Liverpool departure is nothing new for Stewart Downing, however the weekend talks that this was something that was really likely to happen seem almost certain to be proven true.

A fee has been agreed with West Ham for them to sign the 29-year-old.

Downing would need to agree terms, which would mean taking a fairly significant pay cut you'd imagine, with a medical required. Passing that should be a mere formality though.

This switch to Upton Park could well, perhaps even will be wrapped up by midweek - almost certainly in time for him to make his West Ham debut this weekend you'd think?

Somewhere in the region of £15m will be lost on Liverpool's outlay for the winger, added to a loss of some £20m when Andy Carroll was also sold to the Hammers earlier this season. The outlay on both players was certainly money well spent wasn't it...

Other Liverpool news had, of course, centred around Luis Suarez this weekend.

This hasn't been covered as I'm sure everyone has had just about enough of this saga and the sooner this is sorted out the better.

An apology is wanted, this doesn't seem forthcoming from the striker but Brendan Rodgers has just today said that he still feels a resolution to this situation can be found...
