Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, we can’t seem to get away from Luis Suarez and today the Daily Mail provides us with a bit of news that raises our eyebrows just that little bit further – if that is even possible.
The publication claims that Liverpool players, Kolo Toure most specifically, would be willing to forgive the forward pretty much anything to keep him at the club. As we all know, Suarez was forced to apologise to his teammates and the fans after trying to escape from Anfield this summer, yet all now seems rosy from the point of view of both the fans – who gave the forward a warm reception at on Saturday and also his colleagues.
Given Toure has personally expected to be forgiven for a drug ban during his time at Manchester City, we can understand why he may have slightly odd standards, and the defender was quoted stating ‘He can do anything. He just resolved the problem with the manager and we want him to score our goals – that is what we are looking for.
‘The manager sorted it out with him. He (Rodgers) was very clever – and Steven Gerrard as well – they worked (on him) and we are happy he is back training with us again. That is great.’
Given that Suarez is currently serving a ten match ban for exhibiting cannibalism last season and has already been forgiven for his various other unsavoury actions, it is not really that bigger shock to see Liverpool once again make good with the forward and offer him their unwavering support once again. Either way, as one of our punters quips, that could go a long way in securing the forwards immediate future at the club.
