Liverpool target Willian alternative

leandro-damiao
The Sunday People has reported that Liverpool are lining up Leandro Damiao of Internacional.
The Reds are still anxious on the future of Luis Suarez and if Arsenal makes a bid close to £50million, that could see the striker out of Anfield, the newspaper claims.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are now trying to muscle in on Liverpool’s deal to sign Willian, according to the paper, so the Reds want Leandro to ensure they have enough strikers for the season ahead.
Missing out
Brendan Rodgers has a large transfer kitty at his disposal and he is looking to bring in a big name, marquee signing, according to the paper.
Rodgers has already seen deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who signed for Borussia Dortmund, and Diego Costa, who stayed at Atletico Madrid, fall through.
They are afraid the same could happen with Anzhi’s 25-year-old midfielder Willian.
Back up plan
However, if Willian does not sign, Brazilian striker Damiao, who is 24, is believed by the newspaper to be on the back up list.
Tottenham have been interested in the attacker for some time, but couldn’t negotiate a deal for him.
A move for Damiao could happen as he is understood by the paper to want to move to Europe and Rodgers believes that he has the quality to achieve in the Premier League.
Star frontman Suarez is back in training after resolving his differences with the club but still has five games left on his 10 game ban last season.
However, Rodgers knows that, in order to achieve a Champions League finish, Suarez will need help in front of goal so the burden is not completely on him.
