Liverpool rivalled in chase for Frenchman

mamadou-sakho
Liverpool could miss out on the transfer of Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain after AC Milan registered their interest, according to reports.
The Daily Star reported that the Italian club are interested in signing the French international after he handed in a transfer request last week – after he was told he would not be guaranteed a first team place under new manage Laurent Blanc.
Thin on the ground
The Reds, who the newspaper claims made an £8million bid for the player earlier in the month, are looking to reinforce their defensive options after the retirement of Jamie Carragher and the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.
While Milan are hopeful that a bid of a season-long loan with the option to buy will tempt the French giants to let the 23-year-old go, Liverpool want to bring the youngster to Anfield on a permanent basis, the paper claims.
Sakho wants to leave Paris in order to play first team football with the hope of making the plane to the World Cup in Brazil next year.
It’s over
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the drama surrounding Luis Suarez is well and truly over.
“The only thing I will say about Luis is that I am very satisfied how everything has been resolved — and now we can move on,” he was reported as saying by the Mirror.
“He is a part of this team and this club. The supporters are a class act here and it is the classic Liverpool way to support the players and the manager.”
