Liverpool And Chelsea Close In On Turan Deal
Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan is likely to complete a move to the Premier League this summer with Liverpool and Chelsea both in the hunt for his signature.
According to the Express, reports in Spain and Turkey believe that the winger will leave Atletico for a move to the Premier League after his agent claimed it would be ‘likely’.
Atletico had previously made it known that they wanted to keep Turan in Spain but will struggle to hold onto the Turkish international should an offer big enough come in.
Ahmet Bulut, Turan’s agent, revealed to Turkish TV station NTV Spor that the most interest in the player comes from England, although a French club had made an offer that was swiftly rejected.
"The transfer of Arda to the Premier League this summer is likely,” said Bulut.
"England is where most of the interest in him lies and they are well informed about Atletico's stance.
"They know that the Madrid club are rejecting all offers for him but that if the pay his release clause there is nothing the club can do.
"There have been discussions."
Turan, formerly of Galatasaray, who have suggested he wants to return to the Turkish club, has played 65 league games since joining Atletico in 2011.
He has also made 64 appearances for Turkey and scored twice during the nation’s 2010 World Cup campaign in Germany.
