Benfica star close to switch

Lorenzo Melgarejo will travel to Liverpool on Wednesday to undergo a medical and complete his season-long loan move from Benfica - as talkSPORT revealed.

The full-back is expected to provide competition for Jose Enrique as Brendan Rodgers looks to improve his squad in a bid to make the Champions League spots.

And the 22-year-old will travel to Merseyside to complete the formalities of the deal before putting pen to paper.

There is also likely to be an option to buy Melgarejo at the end of the loan deal, with a fee of £7.8m mooted.

Liverpool are preparing a £12m bid to sign Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos, according to the Mirror.

The 21-year-old is considered one of the finest defensive prospects in European football and the Reds are believed to be tracking the Greek international.

Brendan Rodgers is believed to want one more centre-back at the club, to offset the loss of club veteran Jamie Carragher, who retired earlier this summer. Liverpool have already signed Ivory Coast international Kolo Toure on a free transfer, to add to Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.

However, Rodgers' more recent comments throw doubt on the possibility of a bid for Papadopoulos. The Northern Irishman has been quoted as saying he does not see the need to sign another centre-back.

"Defensively, I think we'll be fine. Kolo has been terrific since he came in here. He may be 32 but he's super fit. He's a player who has looked after himself. His age is no barrier and he's someone with a winning mentality," the Anfield boss told the Liverpool Echo.

"He's someone we felt could come in and support the group with his experience and his qualities. I've looked at him over the course of his career and watched him a lot last year. Having seen him first hand since he joined the club, he will be very good for us this season," Rodgers added.

True Love

He took my interview. Was a gentle, young and handsome guy. I did not fare well in the interview. However. I was surprised to receive a call from the organization.During training, I found the guy several times in the room and sitting next to me. I was not sure as to what was the profile on this guy. When I was placed in the production, I found that he was my team lead. He was so co-operative, understanding. There were few gestures of his which made me feel that he likes me. However. I was not sure. Once we planned for a team outing and initially I was hesitant. However, he convinced me and assured me that we would be back before dark. I agreed and we went for an outing. Throughout our trip. I found him to be very happy. On reaching the location, we decided to go through the place as it was amidst beautiful gardens, swimming pools. He decided to take some pictures of the location. when all my team members moved to different directions, he suddenly called me. I turned at him and he said, hey don't you want to see the beautiful pictures that I have taken. As I was viewing the pictures, I found that all the pictures had me at the central point. I was surprised. When asked him, he said, I took the snap of my heart, why do you want to stop me? I was speechless. He came close to me and said, do you know, that your eyes is more potential then you. I was drawn towards you through your eyes.

He took my hands slowly into his, gave a gentle press and said, what if I say that " I love you". I was speechless, breathless. Had sweat over my forehead. He quicked wiped it and said "If you also share the same feelings, then we would get settled at the earliest". However as I was a traditional type of gal, could not ever express my feelings though mine was equally strong like him. He have his only family and so do I. I wish from the core of my heart that he should never ever forget me as I could not either. Also hope that we meet someday as we do not have contact with each other. I wish that could happen. Request all of you to pray that atleast we can communicate with each other till our end.Though I could never express my feelings to him, I always feel that his love towards me can be stated as " TRUE LOVE".
